Durban singer-songwriter De Rose is switching things up with her first hip hop single, "Easy." The track features Blue Papi, Lowfeye, and Frank Mabeat, and it's coming out through House of Kulture.
De Rose has always been known for mixing genres and writing meaningful lyrics. Now she's diving into hip hop with a song that hits hard both musically and message-wise.
"Easy" is all about a guy who's basically living a lie. He's making up stories about his relationships and trying to be someone he's not. But when people ask him to prove it, everything falls apart.
"The song is about how lies only make things worse. To me, it's a story every Kasi girl should hear; watch out, he's not who he says he is," De Rose explains.
The single digs into what's real versus what's fake, and asks tough questions about who we really are versus who we pretend to be. With strong verses and solid features from her collaborators, "Easy" shows De Rose is ready to take her music in a bold new direction.
