This sneaker project has been years in the making. GALXBOY wanted to create something that truly represented their brand — mixing cultural identity with modern design. They teamed up with UK footwear designer Andrew Turner to make it happen.
"This project felt like a divinely aligned partnership from the very beginning," said Thatiso Dube, GALXBOY's founder. "We wanted to create something exceptional — a sneaker that embodies culture, craftsmanship and innovation at the highest level."
The GBX 012 Trainer features clean lines and premium craftsmanship. Its seamless quarter panel construction creates an elevated look that required serious technical precision to pull off. It's designed to make a statement while still being comfortable for everyday wear.
The GBX 012 Runner brings performance-inspired energy to the collection. During testing, the team refined the midsole to avoid a bulky look while keeping comfort and durability intact. They paid special attention to the heel construction for better ground contact and wear resistance.
Andrew Turner, who's worked with major global brands, was excited about this collaboration. "The original sketches were already about 90% there in terms of vision. The final 10% came through refining details and working through construction challenges. The finished designs are truly iconic."
Both sneakers represent the next step for GALXBOY — bold, technically refined footwear that captures the spirit of modern South African youth.
