METRO FM has announced the nominees for the 2026 METRO FM Music Awards during a glamorous event in Johannesburg. This year's awards feature 21 categories with over 100 artists nominated, highlighting the rich diversity of the South African music scene. 

Kina Nhlengethwa, METRO FM Business Manager, expressed excitement about recognizing local talent and acknowledged the support from partners like The Motsepe Foundation and new sponsors Lottostar, Icebolethu, and SAMRO.

Two new categories, Best Maskandi and Best Lekompo, have been introduced to honor traditional Zulu music and a blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, respectively.First-time nominees include Karishma, Goon Flavour, and Nkesh, while Jazzwrld and Thukuthela lead with seven nominations each. 

The awards ceremony will occur on April 25, 2026, at the Durban ICC center. Voting for favorites is available online at www.metrofm.co.za.
