Glenmorangie, the legendary Highland single malt, is bringing together some of Africa's most influential cultural voices to explore Scotland through the lens of creativity, craft, and character.
South African author and commentator Khaya Dlanga joins forces with Kenya's Kate Kamau and Nigeria's Darey Art Alade in what's shaping up to be Glenmorangie's biggest Africa-focused campaign yet. It's all about celebrating the character, craft, and storytelling that define both an exceptional whisky and a meaningful life.
For over 180 years, Glenmorangie's whisky makers have lived by one core belief: true character isn't manufactured, it's built over time. The patience, craftsmanship, and clear vision that go into creating single malt in Scotland's tallest stills? Those are the exact qualities that shape a storyteller's voice. That's the thinking behind this pan-African campaign, and exactly why the brand chose three remarkable creative voices who've spent their careers building character on their own terms.
In South Africa, Khaya Dlanga takes the lead. As a best-selling author, columnist, and one of the country's most recognized cultural voices, Dlanga has spent over a decade asking tough questions and telling South African stories with raw honesty. That same instinct for character and curiosity drew him into Glenmorangie's world, not as someone reading from a script, but as a storyteller recognizing his own craft reflected back.
"I've always been curious about people and the stories they carry, so I found myself just as drawn to the conversation as the whisky," Dlanga said. "Behind every tradition were people who cared deeply about preserving something meaningful. It reminded me that real character is built over time."
Joining him are Kenyan actress Kate Kamau and Nigerian artist and creative executive Darey Art Alade. Each brings their own cultural perspective, and each will host their market's launch event, with Dlanga leading things in Johannesburg.
Kate Kamau shared: "What stayed with me most was how storytelling lives beyond words. You feel it in the people, the landscapes, and the quiet pride behind every part of the distillery. It reminded me that wherever we come from, the stories we preserve become part of who we are. I loved bringing my own perspective and sharing it through an African lens."
Darey Art Alade added: "Going to Scotland felt like going to the source, meeting the people behind the craft and understanding the discipline, patience, and intention that shape the finished experience. As an artist and creative executive, that philosophy felt familiar. Whether you're making music, directing a production, building a platform, or crafting whisky, character is shaped over time. The most meaningful work can't be rushed."
Glenmorangie invited all three to its historic distillery in Tain and across the dramatic Scottish Highlands, where the brand's character has been shaped for over 180 years. Through unscripted conversations with the distillery team, the campaign captures a genuine cultural exchange, with each storyteller experiencing Scotland through their own lens and bringing it home through their creative voice.
Caspar MacRae, President and CEO of The Glenmorangie Company, said: "At Glenmorangie, we've been perfecting the art and science of whisky making for over 180 years, creating our spirit in Scotland's tallest stills for its signature elegant character. When we welcomed Kate, Darey, and Khaya to Tain, they brought real humor and curiosity into their conversations with our distillery team, who loved sharing stories behind our single malts and how they've been shaped by our Highland roots. The conversations throughout the journey were genuinely inspiring. It's a delight to see each storyteller's unique take on their visit, and to celebrate their creativity and character through this campaign, which I'm sure will resonate with whisky lovers across Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and beyond."
The campaign arrives as African artists increasingly shape global conversations around luxury, design, fashion, film, music, and literature.
Derek Ruediger, Glenmorangie International Marketing & Commercial Director, commented: "Africa's creatives are defining the next era of storytelling. This campaign showcases what happens when you combine 180 years of craft with that creative energy. By inviting African voices to take center stage, we're bringing greater relevance and fresh perspectives to our brand stories for local audiences."
