WHISKY MEETS ART: MAIA LEHR-SACKS PARTNERS WITH THE BALVENIE TO BRING CRAFT TO LIFE THROUGH ART & LIGHT

The worlds of fine whisky and contemporary art merged beautifully on September 18, 2025, as The Balvenie hosted an intimate gathering at Norman Goodfellow in Fourways. Media representatives and journalists witnessed South Africa's expression of The Makers Project, a worldwide initiative celebrating modern artisans who share The Balvenie's dedication to craftsmanship. In this sophisticated collaboration, The Balvenie joined forces with sculptural paper artist Maia Lehr-Sacks to create stunning window installations at select Norman Goodfellows locations.

The evening radiated elegance, bringing together guests in an atmosphere that perfectly matched the refined nature of both the whisky and the art. This partnership celebrates a shared commitment to excellence and patience. While The Balvenie maintains time-honored traditions - from growing their own barley to hand-malting and entrusting their entire production to a single Malt Master - Lehr-Sacks brings similar dedication to her paper sculptures. Both demonstrate that true luxury emerges not from rushing the process, but from an unwavering commitment to detail and craftsmanship.

The installations can be viewed at Norman Goodfellows locations in Fourways, Kyalami, and Melrose Arch. They mark the start of a larger project featuring South African makers sharing their craft philosophies alongside The Balvenie's heritage.
