The METRO FM Music Awards 2026 wrapped up with some incredible wins! The ceremony took place at Durban ICC on Saturday, April 25th, celebrating both the awards and METRO FM's 40th anniversary.
Lerato Kganyago and Lawrence Maleka hosted the show, which aired on SABC 1 and streamed on SABC+ at 8 PM.
The big winners of the night were:
**Thukuthela & Jazzworld** absolutely crushed it, taking home three awards: Best Produced Album, Best Dance, and Best Duo or Group.
**Ciza** had an amazing night, winning both Artist of the Year and Best Male Artist.
**Shandesh** claimed Best Female Artist, while **Kharishma** scored Best New Artist.
The ceremony also honored some legends. Wilson B Nkosi received the Long Service Award for his contributions to METRO FM and the SA music industry. Maskandi legend Bheki "Ihashi Elimphlophe" Ngobo, who started making music at age eight with a homemade tin guitar, was given the Lifetime Achievement award.
Artists like DJ Tira, Nomfundo Hlophe, Shandesh, and Nkosazana delivered high-energy performances that kept the energy up all night.
Other notable wins included Ladysmith Black Mambazo taking the Global Icon award, Sam Deep's "Shela" winning Best Music Video and Best Amapiano, and Umafikizolo's "Uyoncengwa Unyoko" being named Song of the Year.
The night perfectly showcased South African music talent while celebrating four decades of METRO FM's impact on the industry.
