On Tuesday, June 1st, we received an invitation from Tina Ngxokolo, founder of Imbola, to attend a limited-time exclusive pop-up showcase at the Sook space inside Mall of Africa. Imbola by Tina Ngxokolo is a prominent luxury South African fashion brand deeply rooted in Xhosa heritage, with all pieces handcrafted in Johannesburg.

The exhibition featured her celebrated ready-to-wear collection, centering on modern interpretations of traditional Mbhaco and Isikhakha designs.

"This is one of our best sellers – a linen shirt dress with the lobola print," explained Tina Ngxokolo. "It's an everyday type of piece. The material is really wearable and versatile. This piece here is actually half of a skirt. I wanted to wear the other side as well, but my intern convinced me that less is more. We're all about layering now – it's become our signature."
